Spring Regatta 2000
June 3-4, 1999
This is the New England
District's season opener. Hosted by Fleet 301 and the Malletts Bay Boat Club (MBBC) this annual event
attracts as many as 25 boats. .
If you've never sailed on Malletts Bay
this is the perfect opportunity. The regatta usually is sailed in the Inner Bay. Water
temperature is still fairly cool and the bay is well protected in the event it gets windy.
It only takes a few minutes to get from the dock to the starting line. As it is early in
the year, the boat traffic is minimal contributing to excellent race conditions.
After Saturday's racing the fleet
feasts on "Bove's Lasagna and Antipasto Salad" served at MBBC. Sundays racing is
usually wrapped up in the early afternoon to give everyone a head start on the way home
MBBC has a 2 ton hoist and an excellent
ramp for launching. The harbor area is well protected and there is ample dock space for 30
boats to tie up for the night. If you need directions to the club, Yahoo has a great
map of the area.
